Shopping on a budget and wanting to look like a million bucks don’t have to be two separate options. You can have both! That’s why, in all of my years of discovering new online stores, I’ve gathered 13 affordable stores that are similar to Free People. Because wanting to spend less money doesn’t mean you can’t have amazing style.

Free People has expanded over the past few years from being just “bohemian” style into modern, contemporary, launching their athleticwear, increasing their focus on basics, and having unique pieces that are inherently their own trademark Free People look. It’s no question, though, that their prices are steep, and leave everyone looking for dupes and similar stores that carry comparable clothing.

Nasty Gal is my go-to for shopping trendy items that don’t break the bank. They have hundreds of new arrivals every week, and always have amazing prices! I shop at Nasty Gal more than anywhere else, because I know they always deliver.

2. Böhme

This women-owned company was started by two Brazilian immigrant sisters with stellar style, and has grown into an amazing brand of bohemian essentials. They have so many pieces similar to Free People, but much better price tags.

3. Shop Stevie

Started by Stevie Henderson, this shop has grown and grown over the past few years. She produces unique pieces that stay modest, stand out, and keep your wallet happy. I always love the effortless yet put together vibe of her pieces. It’s Modern Bohemian style at some of its best. Oh, and her jumpsuits are always killer!

4. Vici Collection

Going on VICI’s website is dangerous! There’s always about 30 things I find that I absolutely love and need, which is exactly what you want in a store! Without your knowledge, your favorite influencer probably wears VICI. They have different styles for all the ladies, especially some great bohemian basics, shown below.

5. Natural Life

You’ve probably seen this brand’s home decor accessories and gifts, but did you know they have an amazing clothing line? I sure didn’t until recently! Natural Life has comfortable pieces that totally give “Free People” and I am so often shocked when I see their prices, like “that’s it?!” Stock up on some cozy loungewear and gorgeous dresses from here.

6. Tree of Life

Tree of Life is my little hidden gem that I don’t share with many people because I want to keep it to myself, but more people need to know about this amazing brand! Bohemian babes should unite at Tree of Life, because it’s like Free People and Spell Designs and Jen’s Pirate Booty without the insane price tags. I love their gorgeous prints, flowy fabrics, and unique pieces you won’t find anywhere else.

7. Ascot + Hart

Say hello to California cool-girl chic. Two friends started this brand with an absolute love for low-key stylish clothes, and it’s grown astronomically. It’s grungy, it’s unique, it’s bright, it’s colorful. It’s skater girl meets urban goddess.


8. Cotton On

You might have seen Cotton On in your local mall, but don’t pass her up too quickly. Known for amazing jeans, Cotton On is an under-appreciated household name. I prefer to shop online with them because there’s such a better selection. They have amazing activewear, graphic tees, easy dresses, and more!

9. 2020 Ave

I don’t know a single soul that knows about this store, and they are completely missing out! This hidden gem always delivers on stellar basics and closet essentials, and then throws in killer statement pieces. They also have an entire Curve collection, which makes me so happy!

10. Lane 201

Everything in Lane 201 is SO good! They kill it with their styling and make you want to buy. it. all. You could honestly build your entire closet just by shopping at this store. They have an extensive product selection, and something for every occasion in your life.


11. Clad & Cloth

A longtime favorite, Clad & Cloth is an amazing alternative to Free People. They bring standout prints and pieces that you don’t see anywhere else. Their styling is high-low, meaning they’ll feature a dressy ensemble with sneakers and a hat to make it all the more effortless. This tomboy chic, cool-girl, NFG attitude makes you come back again and again.

12. Luca + Grae

You can’t not be happy looking across Luca + Grae’s website. Everything is bright and colorful, amazing quality, and makes you want to live in the sun! If you’re into color, cozy pieces, and great prices, shop here.

13. Poppywells

When I need a cute dress, I look to Poppywells. They have the cutest, unique girly bohemian pieces that make you want to frolic through fields.
